MatchZINE – The MarTech magazine

Do you want to improve diversity and inclusion in your team? These tools will help you

Not a “nice to have”, not window dressing, but central to future viability: diversity and inclusion are high on the priority list of many companies for a reason. All the better, then, that technology is also advancing here.

ou notice it everywhere: In recruiting, in marketing, in corporate communications—even in software development—there’s simply no getting around the topics of diversity and inclusion in the 2020s. Some companies, with, let’s say, slightly rusty structures, still find it hard to keep up with all the developments—understandable on the one hand, but on the other hand there is helpful support available.

There is a wide range of software and tools that effectively support diversity management. We compile our experience from numerous matchings for mid-sized companies and corporations and help you with the selection process of the right software providers!

DEI Tools 2025

How can you improve diversity and inclusion?

No company works without people: diversity and inclusion are now a priority in every business. It’s about making sure all employees – regardless of gender, sexual orientation, skin color, origin, age, religion, and physical abilities – feel comfortable and are treated fairly. These factors play an important role both within the team and in external communication.

But how can diversity and inclusion be improved? As in almost all areas, there is also software and tools that make your diversity management easier and complement it. Here we show you where the tools support you.

Important: diversity management is the responsibility of the whole team. You should decide on the right DEI tool together with all relevant colleagues to ensure that all interests and priorities are covered. Diversity management really is a team sport!

Tools for the application process

The application process directly influences, as a first step, how diverse and inclusive a company is. That’s why it’s crucial to recruit diversely from the very beginning and to make sure unconscious biases are eliminated. This also includes onboarding new team members.

Diversity recruiting software helps you, among other things, to anonymize applications so you can focus more on people’s skills instead of being unintentionally distracted by names or age – currently there are around 70 such solutions on the market. Under the acronym DEI you’ll find related tools.

By the way: This is what DEI stands for
Diversity (D) = the existence of differences in the workplace
Equity (E) = neutral, fair processes and programs with the same possible outcomes for every person
Inclusion (I) = a guarantee that all team members are equal and can be themselves at work

Strategy tools for diversity and inclusion

A smart approach to diversity and inclusion needs to be planned, implemented, prioritized, monitored, documented, and communicated. Quite a big task – but one that’s worth it! That’s why it’s best to use a suitable project management approach. Make sure to plan together with the entire team and to integrate content management into the approach as well.

Project management tools help develop the strategy, make it accessible to the team, and keep an eye on progress. It’s also possible to create a Diversity and Inclusion Policy for the entire company so everyone is pulling in the same direction. A Learning Management System (LMS) helps you with knowledge transfer and with training and upskilling the team.

Tools for Monitoring and Evaluation

Like all other goals within the company, diversity and inclusion should be reviewed and evaluated regularly. And don’t forget: corporate efforts in this area have positive effects in your ESG reporting.

And yes, there are software solutions that can make this process really fun! Because instead of simply ticking a few boxes, there are playful approaches here to track progress. Regular team training sessions are also part of such software. Gamification makes it possible!

Calendar Tools for Important Dates

Many DEI tools already include a calendar that lists dates related to important holidays of different religions and nations, human rights, and international events. Consider using an additional calendar tool together with your team, in which each team member enters important dates. This way, it’s possible to celebrate together while also broadening your own horizons.

What are the benefits of DEI tools?

With the help of professional DEI tools, you can promote diversity and inclusion in the team in a playful yet efficient way. All of this serves to make diversity and inclusion an automatic part of the corporate culture—and that is also the goal: One day, companies should be at the point where they hire team members based on their skills and recognize the most diverse backgrounds as absolutely equal.

Unfortunately, this is not yet the standard, but smart technology solutions help prevent bias, evaluate more neutrally, and organize regular check-ins on the agreed goals.

Many tools offer the solutions mentioned in a compact form within a single piece of software. This is an affordable and, above all, efficient way to work on DEI topics within the company. Make sure that the software fits the company context and is accepted and used by all team members.

What else can I do to further promote diversity and inclusion?

Technological solutions are of course practical for improving diversity and inclusion within the team. However, they are not the only answer. Therefore, take a multifaceted approach and let the right technologies support you. At least as important, however, is fostering an open, appreciative work culture, holding regular conversations, organizing workshops, and gathering feedback. Mindset is key.

At every step, you should ask critical questions: Is the application process really fair? Do team members know how to recognize and question their unconscious biases? What progress is the company making on the path toward greater inclusion? What about diversity in the marketing area? With the answers, you’ll be able to make your team more inclusive and diverse.

“Besides technology, it is just as important to foster an open, appreciative work culture.”
